At the beginning of 2020, we aimed to create the simplest door opening method and perhaps the world's smallest lock. Simplicity and compactness became the themes of our development, so we began working on it. We spent several weeks gathering information, organizing ideas, and also reviewing several related products on the market. Among them, ekey’s products captured our attention. As one of the best single-fingerprint door recognition systems available at the time, ekey was incredibly simple yet complex. The product, aside from fingerprint recognition, had no additional features, and the local configuration process lacked a manual, making it nearly impossible to use. Although there was a Bluetooth app version, the app was difficult to use, and the logical structure was equally complex. This was far from the ideal product we envisioned. Thus, we decided to reconstruct the functionality and replan based on the application scenarios.

Firstly, this product is installed on the entry door. For outdoor use, in addition to the basic fingerprint unlocking function (which we later found had limitations as not everyone’s fingerprint could be recognized, so we promptly added a card reader function), a visitor doorbell call function is essential. Thus, the outdoor unit requires these key features: fingerprint recognition, RFID card access, and a doorbell call button. To simplify the operation and configuration process, we also added Bluetooth functionality for mobile phones. The doorbell call function requires an indoor unit. Since a full automatic lock system with a push-to-open handle would offer a poor user experience, we developed an indoor unlocking function to complement it.
